current /kur″ənt/ [L, currere, to run] , 1. a flowing or streaming movement. 2. a flow of electrons along a conductor in a closed circuit; an electric current. 3. certain physiological electrical activity and characteristics of blood circulation. Physiological currents include abnerval current, action current, axial current, centrifugal current, centripetal current, compensating current, demarcation current, and electrotonic current.
