credentialing

credentialing /kriden″shəling/ , examination and review of the credentials of individuals meeting a set of educational or occupational criteria and therefore being licensed in their fields. Strict credentialing is required by both hospital and managed care accreditation bodies, as well as regulatory bodies for the health professions. The process is conducted periodically because of the responsibility of organizations for any claims of malpractice by their staffs but more importantly for the organizations’ commitment to excellence in patient care.
