craniocervical /krā″nē·ōsur″vikəl/ [Gk, kranion + L, cervix, neck] , pertaining to the junction of the skull and neck, particularly the area of the foramen magnum. Because of the complex of nerve fibers and blood vessels in the region and the flexibility of the cervical spine, craniocervical tissues are particularly vulnerable to a variety of compression and traction disorders.
