Cowper’s syringocele, a cystlike swelling of a bulbourethral gland (Cowper’s gland) or one of its ducts, seen in infant boys or occasionally in older males. There are four types of syringocele, which are classified as either open or closed. Symptoms associated with an open syringocele are postvoid dribbling and hematuria. A closed syringocele is more likely to cause obstructive symptoms such as dysuria and urinary retention. Also called Cowper’s cyst.
