convulsive seizure

convulsive seizure /kənvul″siv/ [L, convulsio, cramp; OFr, seisir] , a type of seizure in which there are shakes, twists, jerks, and generalized stiffening. This type of seizure may indicate an epileptic disorder or may be the result of high fever, meningitis, high levels of blood glucose or sodium, or other electrolyte disorders.
