compensated acidosis

compensated acidosis /kom″pənsā′tid/ [L, compensare, to balance, acidus, sour; Gk, osis, condition] , a condition in which the pH of the blood is maintained within normal limits (adult/child: 7.35 to 7.45) although the blood bicarbonate level is below normal or the PCO2 is above normal.
