cerebral gigantism

cerebral gigantism [L, cerebrum + Gk, gigas, giant] , an abnormal condition characterized by excessive weight and size at birth, accelerated growth during the first 4 or 5 years after birth without any increase in the level of growth hormone, and then reversion to normal growth. Some typical signs of this condition are prognathism, downward-slanting eyes, an elongated skull, moderate intellectual disability, and impaired coordination. Also called Soto’s syndrome.
