CCK-HIDA scan

CCK-HIDA scan, cholecystokinin hepatobiliary (CCK-HIDA) scintigraphy used as a diagnostic measure in the evaluation of abdominal pain when gallbladder disease is suspected. To prepare for the scan, the patient fasts for 4 or more hours. Following the fast, technetium-99m-EHIDA is injected systemically via an intravenous site. Then 1½ hours later cholecystokinin (CCK) is infused over 45 minutes. Imaging begins 5 minutes before infusion, and the gallbladder ejection fraction is monitored.
