Caldwell-Luc procedure [George Caldwell, American physician, 1834–1918; Henri Luc, French physician, 1855–1925] , surgical drainage of the sinus into the nose following opening of the maxillary sinus. Now largely replaced by endoscopic sinus surgery for sinusitis. It is still employed for large tumors within or adjacent to the maxillary sinus and removal of odontic tumors or cysts.
