boric acid

boric acid /bôr″ik/ , a white, odorless powder or crystalline substance used as a buffer (H3BO3) and formerly used as a topical antiseptic and eyewash. The powder is highly poisonous when taken internally. Also called boracic acid, orthoboric acid.
