Biot’s respiration /bē·ōz″/ [Camille Biot, French physician, 1878–1918] , an abnormal respiratory pattern, characterized by short episodes of rapid, uniformly deep inspirations followed by 10 to 30 seconds of apnea. Biot’s respiration is symptomatic of meningitis or increased intracranial pressure.
