azlocillin sodium /az′lōsil″in/ , a semisynthetic penicillin antibiotic. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed for lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, bone, and joint infections, and bacterial septicemia caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms, mainly Pseudomonas aeruginosa. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to any of the penicillins prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: The most serious adverse reactions are anaphylactic reactions, convulsive seizures, epigastric pain, reduction in blood elements, and elevation in hepatic and renal parameters.
