anti-Hu antibody, any of the polyclonal immunoglobulin G autoantibodies directed against the proteins of the Hu antigen family; they are associated with paraneoplastic sensory neuronopathy and encephalomyelitis in oat cell carcinoma of the lung and more rarely, sarcoma and neuroblastoma. Also called type 1 antineuronal antibody.
