angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL)

angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL), a rare, but aggressive systemic lymphoma of mature T cells involving deregulation of B cells and endothelial cells. Symptoms of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) include fever, night sweats, and skin rash. As the disorder progresses, hepatosplenomegaly, hemolytic anemia, polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia, and autoimmune disorders may develop. AITL accounts for 1 to 2% of all non-Hodgkins lymphoma cases in the United States.The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is observed in the majority of cases. Also called immunoblastic lymphadenopathy, angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy with dysproteinemia.
