It secretes growth hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone, melanocyte-stimulating hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, prolactin, beta lipotropin molecules, and endorphins. The release of hormones from the hypothalamus regulates these secretions. Also called anterior pituitary.
