adenocarcinoma of the lung, a type of bronchogenic carcinoma made up of a discrete mass of cuboidal or columnar epithelial cells, generally at the lung periphery. Most of these tumors form glandular structures that contain mucin, although a few lack mucin and are solid. Growth is slow, but there may be early invasion of blood and lymph vessels by metastases while the primary lesion is still asymptomatic. Kinds include bronchioloalveolar carcinoma, bronchogenic adenocarcinoma.
