abdominoscopy /abdom′inos″kəpē/ [L, abdomen; Gk, skopein, to view] , a procedure for examining the contents of the peritoneum in which an electrically illuminated tubular device is passed through a trocar into the abdominal cavity. Also called peritoneoscopy. See also endoscopy, laparoscopy.
