C-peptide test, a blood test used to evaluate levels of C-peptide, which correlate with insulin levels in the blood. Direct measurement of C-peptide measures the capacity of the pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin. It is used to evaluate patients with suspected insulinoma, renal failure, pancreas transplant, factitious hypoglycemia, radical pancreatectomy, and diabetes mellitus.
