cold-wet-sheet pack, (Obsolete) a form of somatic therapy used indiscriminately and sometimes as a restraint in psychiatric hospitals of the past. While this type of therapy is rarely seen in clinical practice in North America today, it is still being used, particularly with the mentally ill or cognitively challenged in countries around the world, where it may be referred to as “packing.” Today in North America, cold-wet-sheet pack therapy can be found in use in some spas or chosen by some as an alternative treatment to medications or other more invasive methods of treatment in the case of some chronic conditions or anxiety.
