clove-hitch sling, a bandage that begins with a clove-hitch knot at the center. The loop made is fitted to the hand. The two loose ends are extended over and behind the shoulders and tied beside the neck. Longer ends may be drawn down the back of the shoulders and under each axilla to be tied over the chest. It provides support for an injured upper extremity.
