Chilomastix /kī′lōmas″tiks/ , a genus of flagellate protozoa, such as Chilomastix mesnili, a nonpathogenic intestinal parasite of humans. Infection with this organism may be the occasional cause of diarrhea in children. Transmission is through the oral-fecal route.
