cefoperazone sodium /sē′fōper″əzōn/ , a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the treatment of respiratory tract, bone, joint, skin, and female genital tract infections and of bacterial septicemia. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to the cephalosporins or known sensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the most serious adverse reactions are pruritus, urticaria, transient eosinophilia, neutropenia, and injection site reactions.
