carpal ligaments, the four ligaments of the hand: the dorsal ligament, a thick band of white fibrous tissue on the dorsum of the wrist, attached to the lower end of the radius and to the styloid process of the ulna; the radiate ligament of the wrist, which projects from the head of the capitate bone to the volar aspects of other carpal bones; the broad, flat transverse ligament, which is attached to the tubercle of the scaphoid and the crest of the trapezium; and the volar ligament, a superficial part of the flexor retinaculum of wrist.
