Administered sublingually or by intramuscular or IV injection. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is administered parenterally for the relief of moderate to severe pain and is used in tablet form to treat opioid dependence. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: This Schedule V controlled substance is contraindicated for patients who may be opioid dependent. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the reported adverse effects are respiratory depression, sedation, nausea, dizziness, vertigo, headache, vomiting, miosis, diaphoresis, and hypotension.
