benign familial chronic pemphigus

benign familial chronic pemphigus [L, benedicere, to bless, familia, household; Gk, pemphix, bubble] , a hereditary condition of the skin characterized in the early stages by blisters that break, leaving red, eroded areas followed by crusts. It most commonly occurs on the neck, groin, and axillary regions. It presents in late adolescence or early adulthood. Also called Hailey-Hailey disease.
