Ziehl’s stain

Ziehl’s stain [Franz Ziehl, German bacteriologist, 1859–1926] , a bacteriologic process using a chemical wash to color acid-fast organisms, mainly mycobacteria, so that they can be viewed in a specimen. Also called acid-fast stain. See also carbol-fuchsin stain.

Mycobacteria retain the red carbol fuchsin stain (Walker et al, 2014)
