yarrow, an herb native to Europe and Asia, now grown in North America. ▪ INDICATIONS: This herb is used to decrease bleeding, to improve circulation, and to treat GI disorders, hypertension, and thrombi. Chemical analysis supports the possibility of beneficial effects, but there are insufficient reliable data from human studies to assess its efficacy. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Yarrow should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. It is also contraindicated in those with known hypersensitivity to this plant or other members of the Compositae family, such as Chamomilla recutita, Tanacetum parthenium, or T. vulgare.
