Bainbridge reflex

Bainbridge reflex [Francis A. Bainbridge, English physiologist, 1874–1921] , a cardiac reflex in which stimulation of stretch receptors in the wall of the left atrium causes an increased pulse rate. It may be triggered by the infusion of large amounts of IV fluids or by backflow of blood in congestive heart failure.
