It is only recommended for those who are traveling to areas outside of the U.S. to areas where typhoid is common. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Acute infection or concomitant use of corticosteroids prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the more serious adverse effects are anaphylaxis and pain and inflammation at the site of injection.
