tripelennamine hydrochloride /trī′pelen″əmēn/ , an antihistamine. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the treatment of rhinitis and hypersensitivity reactions of the skin. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Asthma, glaucoma, difficulty in emptying the bladder, concomitant administration of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. It is not given to premature infants or newborns or to lactating mothers. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the more serious adverse effects are sedation, tachycardia, and GI upset.
