Townes method

Townes method, a technique for producing radiographic images of the occipital bone, foramen magnum, and dorsum sellae. The patient is supine or facing the x-ray tube with the chin depressed so the orbitomeatal line is perpendicular. The x-ray beam is angled 30 degrees toward the patient’s feet and enters the frontal bone above the nasal bones and exits the occipital bone. See also Haas method.
