tiotropium, an anticholinergic and bronchodilator. ▪ INDICATIONS: This drug is used for long-term treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and for once-daily maintenance of bronchospasm associated with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Adverse effects of this drug include depression, chest pain, increased heart rate, dry mouth, blurred vision, glaucoma, abdominal pain, constipation, dyspepsia, rash, urinary difficulty, urinary retention, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection, epistaxis, and pharyngitis. Common side effects include vomiting, cough, and a worsening of symptoms.
