It is effective and much safer than tetanus antitoxin. ▪ INDICATIONS: This drug is prescribed for short-term immunization against tetanus after possible exposure to the organism and for tetanus treatment. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. It should not be substituted for tetanus toxoid. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: The most serious adverse effect is anaphylaxis. Fever, pain, and inflammation at the site of injection may occur.
