acetohydroxamic acid /as″ĕ-to-hi″droks-am′ik/ , an inhibitor of bacterial urease used in the prophylaxis and treatment of struvite renal calculi, whose formation is favored by urease-producing bacteria, and as an adjunct in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by urease-producing bacteria. It is administered orally.
