temsirolimus, a biological response modifier. ▪ INDICATIONS: This drug is used to treat renal cell carcinoma. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Breastfeeding, pregnancy, and known hypersensitivity to this drug, sirolimus, or polysorbate 80 prohibit its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Adverse effects of this drug include seizures, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, pruritus, and metabolic acidosis. Life-threatening side effects include thrombophlebitis, bowel perforation, albuminuria, hematuria, proteinuria, renal failure, anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, interstitial lung disease, and lymphoma. Common side effects include headache and rash.
