symmelia /simē″lyə/ [Gk, syn, together, melos, limb] , a developmental anomaly characterized by apparent fusion of the lower limbs. There may be three feet (tripodial symmelia), two feet (dipodial symmelia), one foot (monopodial symmelia), or no feet (sirenomelia).
