subacute myelooptic neuropathy (SMON)

subacute myelooptic neuropathy (SMON), a condition of muscular pain and weakness, usually below the T12 vertebra; painful dysesthesia of the limbs; and, in some cases, optic atrophy. The patient usually experiences a significant alteration of gait.
