sphenomandibular ligament

sphenomandibular ligament /sfē′nōmandib″yələr/ [Gk, sphen + eidos + L, mandere, to chew] , one of a pair of flat, thin ligaments comprising part of the temporomandibular joint between the mandible of the jaw and the temporal bone of the skull. It is attached to the spine of the sphenoid bone and becomes broader as it descends to the lingula of the mandibular foramen.
