simple figure-eight roller arm sling, a sling prepared by placing the patient in a supine or sitting position with the affected arm flexed and adjacent to the chest. The open sling fits under the arm and over the chest. The bandage is fixed with a single turn toward the uninjured side around the arm and chest, crossing the elbow above the external epicondyle. In the next step, the bandage is drawn forward under the tip of the elbow, after making a second turn that overlaps two thirds of the first. Then the bandage is pulled upward along the flexed arm to the base of the neck on the uninjured side. Finally, the bandage is drawn down over the scapula and across the chest and arm, overlapping and continuing in a figure-eight pattern.
