Salmonella gastroenteritis

Salmonella gastroenteritis, a type of gastroenteritis caused by species of Salmonella. Species causing this in humans include S. choleraesuis and S. enteritidis and usually enter the body in contaminated food. Symptoms include inflammation of the mucosa, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and bloody diarrhea. A more virulent form can occur in immunocompromised patients, sometimes resulting in septicemia.
