ropinirole, an antiparkinsonian agent. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is used to treat parkinsonism. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Life-threatening effects are hemolytic anemia, leukopenia, and agranulocytosis. Other adverse effects include psychosis, hallucination, dystonia, depression, dizziness, constipation, dyspepsia, flatulence, rash, sweating, tachycardia, hypertension, hypotension, syncope, palpitations, blurred vision, impotence, urinary frequency, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, and dyspnea. Common side effects include agitation, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, dry mouth, and orthostatic hypotension.
