Rhodesian trypanosomiasis

Rhodesian trypanosomiasis /rōdē″zhən/ , an acute form of African trypanosomiasis, caused by the parasite Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense. The disease may progress rapidly, causing encephalitis, coma, and death in only a few weeks. Also called kaodzera, Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense. Compare Gambian trypanosomiasis.
