renal calculus

renal calculus, a concretion occurring in the kidney. If the stone is large enough to block the ureter and stop the flow of urine from the kidney, it must be removed by either major surgical or radiological fluoroscopy procedures. Also called kidney stone, nephritic calculus, nephrolith. See also nephroscope.
