pyuria

pyuria /pīyo̅o̅r″ē·ə/ , the presence of an excessive number of white blood cells in the urine, typically more than four leukocytes per high-power field count. It is generally a sign of an infection in the urinary tract but can reflect inflammation from chemical or radiation causes. Bacterial pyuria usually is caused by infection of the bladder and urethra.
