Pierre Robin’s syndrome /pyer rob″inz, pyer rōbans″/ [Pierre Robin, French histologist, 1867–1950] , a complex of congenital anomalies including a small mandible, cleft lip, cleft palate, other craniofacial abnormalities, and defects of the eyes and ears, including glaucoma. Intelligence is usually normal. Plastic surgery may achieve satisfactory cosmetic repair, but speech therapy, orthodontia, and psychological counseling and support are often necessary.
