phytohemagglutinin (PHA) /fī′tōhem′əglo̅o̅″tinin/ [Gk, phyton, plant, haima, blood; L, agglutinare, to glue] , a hemagglutinin that is derived from a plant, specifically the lectin obtained from the red kidney bean. Also called phytolectin.
