phlebostatic axis /-stat″ik/ [Gk, phleps + stasis, standing still] , the approximate location of the right atrium, found at the intersection of the midaxillary and a line drawn from the fourth intercostal space at the right side of the sternum. The phlebostatic axis is used extensively in hemodynamics.
