pemphigoid /pem″figoid/ [Gk, pemphix, bubble, eidos, form] , a bullous disease resembling pemphigus, distinguished by thicker-walled bullae arising from erythematous macules or urticarial bases. Oral lesions are uncommon. It may rarely be associated with an internal malignancy. Spontaneous remission occasionally occurs after several years. Treatment usually includes oral corticosteroids.
