passive-aggressive personality [L, passivus + aggressus, combative, persona, character] , a personality characterized by a chronically negativistic disposition with passive resistance and aggression manifested by forceful actions or attitudes expressed in an indirect, nonviolent manner, such as pouting, obstructionism, procrastination, inefficiency, stubbornness, and forgetfulness.
