parasympathomimetic /per′əsim′pəthō′mimet″ik/ [Gk, para + sympathein, to feel with, mimesis, imitation] , 1. adj., pertaining to a substance producing effects similar to those caused by stimulation of a parasympathetic nerve. 2. n., an agent whose effects mimic those resulting from stimulation of parasympathetic nerves, especially those produced by acetylcholine.
